About the Festival of Trees & Lights
Since the first Festival was held in 1988, the Festival of Trees & Lights has raised over one-half million dollars for local charities. For 17 years, the Junior League of Winnipeg hosted the Festival of Trees & Lights.
In 2006, as has been their long-standing tradition, the Junior League of Winnipeg turned over the operation of the Festival to the Friends of the Assiniboine Park Conservatory. The Friends worked closely with the Junior League in 2006 to make the transition of planning and holding the event now and in the future.
Proceeds from the 2009 tree raffle are directed as follows:
Decorate a tree, sponsor a tree, an event, or become one of our friends of the Festival. We invite you to join us to make the 2009 Festival of Trees & Lights in the Park the biggest and best ever!
About the Friends of the Assiniboine Park Conservatory
The Friends of the Assiniboine Park Conservatory is a charitable organization, founded in 1988, dedicated to supporting the Assiniboine Park Conservatory and to the furthering of botanical interests in the community. The Friends continually work to increase public awareness of the need to conserve our plant resources and to develop projects which help achieve this conservation goal. The Festival of Trees & Lights, as well as the Mother's Day Plant Sale and the summer Garden Tours are just some of the major fund raising events hosted by the Friends of the Conservatory.
